Instagram launches three new shopping features. With the holidays coming up you as a retailer and e-commerce platform can use Instagram as a tool to get your user into a better shopping experience. Users can find your products through a business profile, save a shopping collection or through a video.
Instagram prepares you for the holidays with these three cool features and helps your visitors convert more easily. We will dive into the features to tell you more about it and why it should matter you.
Business profiles will have a shop tab
One of the newest features of Instagram is that business profiles now are included with a “shop” tab that lets users browse products from that business.
This shop tab will show product images that can be clicked on and will show you product information and the post that featured the product.
Video is now shoppable
We already knew that video will be more and more important but now Instagram inserted a shopping icon in the bottom left corner of branded videos that show you the products that are shown in the video.
This feature is great since while the people who are interacting with the video can now view the product prices as well.
Instagram opens a collection feature where you now have a shopping collection option to save products of interest.
With this feature we now move more towards webshops and the way people shop in an e-commerce environment. This totally makes sense where people are inspired by branded content and the products that come with it so why not directly convert there as well.
After tapping a product tag in a story or on a post in their feed, a user can tap the save button in the bottom right corner of the image. This will save the product to their collection and they can access it at a later time when they browse to their profile.
Retailers and E-commerce platforms get the chance to sell through Instagram. While Instagram is a platform where people interact with inspirational content it is a great way to offer them directly the products as well.
The shopping collection, business profile shopping tab and new shop icon for videos are all positioned as user features, but ultimately they will benefit brands by widening exposure for the products they share on the platform.
